of wedding gowns and special dinners

greetings all.

*the holiday*
lol. no no. not the jack black-cameron diaz holiday.
my holidays.

so off we went, 5 am in the morning with 2 michelles, a ming and a vinod. didnt sleep that night so had those dynamics-fluid-solid-mechanics-early-in-the-morning hangovers.

hangovers

was kind of bad so tried snoozing on the way back but someone needs to hold ming's horses. =P

im really sorry i dont have many pictures to show. bear with me if you may to read loads of words. finally, city's polluted air.

oh man we look alike but im so short? justice!

anyways, was in time for my uncle di-di's wedding dinner. lol. renaissance hotel no-idea-what ballroom.

the no-idea-what grand ballroom.

nice also-la the settings and all. pretty much a grand
grand one. so basically, the whole yong family was there; 2
tai yees, mei yee, kian yee, siew eng yee, kao fu, big kao
fu, lou fu =P
and loads of uncles, aunties and cousins. theres this cocktail party before dinner started so we had like free flow of brandies, wines, martinis, XOs, etc. (lol no-la. hes not THAT rich-la. just brandies and wines i think)as a result, uncles went into the dining hall pretty much tomato-ish.

find this picture pretty amazing.

so we waited, got seated to our places and the thing started. i was happily seated beside a stranger uncle. okay. hes not just any uncle. he has special abilities.

first we had this (sorry i cant remember the full names)
yummy-licious appetizer, the

1. 4 hot and cold dish.

uncle said:
"whoa not bad."

"my children in singapore.. wife..."
great wall of china elaborations.

2. shark fin soup with seafood.

"nice!"

picks a shark fin from the mouth and showed to me.
"you think this is ori ka? nolar...."
i taught him how to cook shark fin porridge instead.

3. onion chicken plus no idea what ingredients.

"wah, why so salty one"

"wah you know kah? africa ya..."
bet you know africa better than the africans.

4. stir fried prawn with cashew nuts in basket.

"wah, the basket can eat ka? good good!"

"you know ka? healthy living.. vegetarian..."
he will definitely live very long. =)

5. steamed australian garuopa in sauce.

"come la. mai paiseh take yourself."

"aussie garoupas can grow..."
crocodile hunter, starring uncle.

6. mushrooms, abalone, kailan (a type of vege) and etc stir fried.

"kailan not watered...? so thin one...?"

"kailan in hongkong..big..."
agriculture for dummies, audio version.

7. fried rice with seafood.

"anchovies.. history... reason.. fried rice served..."
i cared less. what the heck. makan saja-la. sedap siut.

8. longan double boiled something with fish mooncakes and sesame round thingees.

"sweet ah..!"

"fishing.. hobby.."
now i learn how to fish pulak.

okay. after an hour.

"bye bye uncle. hope you enjoyed the night. good night"
gladly.

pretty sure he did enjoy talking to all of us. not sure
otherwise though. but hey, hes a really friendly and special uncle alright?
=P

all in all, the dinner was great and informative. the
couple's awesome alrighty and hope God will bless them in their
marriage. =)

signing off,
