sleep
he was there several occasions and most of them weren’t pleasant but sure he was quite proud. after having to prove for almost half a year, he made it.
they flew, 45 minutes ride over the adjacent large firing floater. some words of wisdom to the newbies, quickly boots were on and glasses too.
there’s always this faint vibrating sound, even louder outside. probably the costly air machines outside. the stiff, greasy and metallic air one can never forget. stepping on floating swaying metal joints nowhere. balance.
the outside air; greasier, rustier and sweaty.
the crew with a rookie went to work.
that night, he closed his eyes but he could never sleep, that essential dose of sleep. tomorrow will be a longer, more tiring day. stiff air, still greasy, with a little bit of fabric. and of course, that familiar vibration.
the top bunk felt like nowhere. isolated. no solid ground. a job’s waiting, sways are random and the alarm rings all the time in the head. its never the same sleep again.
an attempt to sleep an hour ago but the moment eyes were closed, those feelings came right back. no idea why today’s night.
never the same sleep soon again. for a long time. a very long time.
good night.
