traditional chinese signboard

so the grape seller’s been swatting flies with chopsticks at home so he decided to retire and do something else.

this! sis sent me a link and i was inspired haha.

P210310_00.48

the yellowing banana’s calligraphy skills not bad eih? :P nah lah. was printed and traced. if you want the .ttf file please bellow lol. credits to ning, ziman and ken for their pro vocab!

P210310_21.38

the wood is cut to roughly a4 size. i had to combine the wood to size because mine came in this size. it was messy sawing but okay lah. used buncho’s wood carving tool; whacking the outside perimeter to a depth of around 0.5 cm with a ‘knife’ first will make life a lot more easier.

then play cheat by filling the gaps with putty. used durofilla powder (myr 4.00). proper viscosity so that it won’t crack lah

P220310_11.52

then make a viscous profile for the (alphabets?) so that it looks 3D-ish. used my fingers to do the job. way easier.

P220310_14.35

painted it with pearl gold paint (very expensive lah. 100g for myr 18.) potong stim lor.

P220310_16.38

then black paint.

P220310_17.14

leave it overnight and paint another layer if necessary.

P230310_10.14

there, the end product. looks alright yeah? :)
apparently this thingy ushers in good tidings and peace for households.

huat, lai ah lai ah! lol. :D
